MAP Offers
Professional Technical Assistance to Houston Area Nonprofits
United Way’s Management
Assistance Program (MAP) offers an array of services to non-profits.
These include an organizational self-assessment with a MAP consultant,
customized consultation, board and staff retreats, and a variety
of workshops and seminars. For 2001, the scheduled workshops so
far are How To Be a Nonprofit (January 17), Collaboration (January
25), Baby Steps of Fundraising (January 31, February 7), Volunteer
Management (March 1-2), and Funders Forum (March 27).
A group may apply to
become a MAP Partner, which brings a variety of benefits. Enrollment
fee is $100, which can be applied to the various services (prices
between $50 and $250). An applicant for Partner must have obtained
501©(3) IRS tax-exempt status at least one year prior to application.
Houston Peace and Justice Center has that status, and can be the
vehicle through which its member groups get MAP services.
